Americans are great snackers. We'll
eat anything anytime. Sometimes that gets us into trouble. We get
hungry in the afternoon and eat a whole bag of chips. We go to a
party, or throw one, and eat piece after piece of creamy, buttery,
caloric food.
But snaking, even party foods, can be
healthful. Eating several small meals is actually easier on your
body than skipping meals and overeating at one or two big meals.
Such as eating pattern helps regulate blood sugar and blood
cholesterol better than one or two big meals. A well-timed, well
planned mid-afternoon snack can assuage hunger without too much fat
and keep us raiding the cookie jar!
When family adults come home from work
and kids come home from school, have something at hand that is
delicious, nutritious, light, and memorable.
Light meals can also be used for lunch
or dinner.
Start lighter, and you may find
yourself with lower diabetic reading too!
