Easy Baked Fish Fillets Recipe

Ingredients

2 16-ounce packages frozen fish fillets

1  tbsp cooking oil

Bacon-Sour Cream Sauce

hot cooked noodles

1/4 cup snipped parsley

Oven 450o

 

Method

Let frozen blocks of fish stand at room temperature 20 minutes; cut each block into 4 positions. Place frozen fish in a a greased shallow baking pan. Brush fish with the cooking oil. Sprinkle with salt. Bake, uncovered, in a 450o oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till fish flakes easily when tested with a fork. Meanwhile, prepare Bacon-Sour Cream Sauce. Serve fish and sauce over noodles. Sprinkle with parsley. Makes 8 servings.

 

Microwave Directions: Cut fish into portions as above. Place frozen fish in a greased 12x7 1/2x2-inch nonmetal baking dish. To thaw, cook, covered with waxed paper, in a counter-top microwave oven on high power for 2 minutes. Let stand 2 minutes. Micro-cook 1 minute; let stand 2 minutes. Again micro-cook 1 minute; let stand 2 minutes. Then, micro-cook about 30 seconds. (Turn fish over and give dish a half-turn halfway through defrosting).

 

Brush thawed fish with cooking oil; sprinkle with salt. Micro-cook for 7 to 8 minutes or till fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, giving dish a half-turn after 4 minutes. Serve with sauce and noodles as above.

 

Bacon-Sour Cream Sauce: In a small saucepan heat one 10 3/4-ounce can condensed cream, of mushroom or celery soup over low heat. Stir in 1 cup dairy sour cream, 1/4 cup milk, and 6 slices bacon, crisp-cooked, drained, and crumbled. Heat sauce through.
