Neuropathy Problem In Diabetes |

As we've seen, high blood glucose levels damage the nerves to various parts of the body. This can have dire consequences - for example, loss of sensation to the feet, impotence, bladder and bowel incontinence and other problems. Loss of feeling in the feet can result in infections, which, if they go unnoticed, can result in ulcers and other damage (such as burns caused by putting cold feet too close to a heater, without realising just how hot they're getting!). Such damage, combined with blood vessel problems, may, ultimately, lead to gangrene and amputation. This is why careful foot care is essential for people with diabetes |
