Vanilla Pudding Recipe |

Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2 cups milk 2 beaten egg yolks or 1 beaten egg 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Method: In a heavy medium saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch, 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in milk. Cook and stir over ; medium heat till thickened and bubbly; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot mixture into egg yolks or egg.
Return all to mixture in saucepan. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove form heat. Stir in butter and vanilla till butter melts. Pour into a bowl. Cover surface with clear plastic wrap. Chill about stirring. To serve, spoon into individual sherbet, dishes. Serves 4. ¡ Chocolate Pudding:Prepare Vanilla Pudding as above, except increase sugar to 3/4 cup. Chop 2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate. Add with milk. Continue as directed.
