Into every healthful diet, let a little
sweetness come. Embrace desserts. They won't hurt you. At least not
ours. We used every skill we had, plus a few more we discovered along
the way, to create recipes that are sweet creamy, gooey, flaky,
layered, chocolaty, lacy, cakey, and thoroughly
satisfying. We're not talking about fruit salads here. If you follow the
"80/20" rule, this is the "20" part: fun foods.
We didn't strive to make these
desserts as low in fat as possible, though. The first criterion, as
in all recipes we have in this site, is taste. Often we decide we're
going to do something about the way we eat, and so we cut out all
our favorite foods. Then we start to crave them. A better strategy
is to find versions that provide wonderful taste yet are moderately
lower in fat, carb and calories. That's what we did here.
All these desserts are lower in carb,
fat, saturated fat, and calories than most desserts you're likely to
come across.
So as you travel the path toward a
healthful diet, take a rest from time to time, and let a little
sweetness in
