How To Caramelize Sugar?

  • Sugar will melt into a golden liquid as it is heated.

  • Place the sugar in a heavy skillet or saucepan.

  • Heat and stir over low heat till the sugar melts and turns a golden brown.

  • To make a syrup from this melted sugar (it will harden when cooled,) add hot water very slowly, stirring constantly and using the specified proportions.
