Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter or margarine

4 eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

 

Method
Bring butter or margarine and eggs to room temperature. Grease and flour a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.

 

Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. In a large mixer bowl beat the butter or margarine on medium speed of electric mixer about 30 seconds. Gradually add sugar, beating 6 minutes or till fluffy. Add vanilla. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating 1 minute after each; scrape bowl frequently.

 

Gradually add dry ingredients to egg mixture, beating on low speed just till thoroughly combined. Turn batter into pan. Bake in a 325?oven for 55 to 65 minutes or till done. Cool 15 minutes on a wire rack Remove from pan. Cool. Makes 12 servings.
