Banana Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup mashed ripe banana

2/3 cup buttermilk or sour milk

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

Creamy butter, frosting

Oven 350o

 

Method:

Grease and lightly flour two 9x1 1/2-inch round baking pans. In a mixer bowl combine the first 5 ingredients. Add shortening and bananas; beat on low speed of electric mixer till combined. Add buttermilk or sour milk, eggs, and vanilla; beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Turn batter into prepared pans. Bake in a 350o oven for 30 minutes or till done. Cool 10 minutes on wire racks. Remove from pans; cool thoroughly. Frost with Creamy Butter Frosting. 

 

Per serving(1/12 of serving): 300 calories, 5 g protein, 50 g carbohydrates, 10 g fat, 339 mg Sodium
