Baked Eggs Recipe

Baked eggs are also called shirred eggs. If desired, they may be baked in ramekins, which are individual baking dished --

 

Ingredients

butter or margarine

6 eggs

2 tbsp light cream or milk

6 tbsp shredded American cheese

Oven 325o

 

Method

Butter a custard cup for each egg. Carefully break eggs into the prepared custard cups; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add 2 tsp of the light cream or milk to each egg-filled cup. Set cups in a baking pan; place on oven rack. Pour hot water around cups in pan to a depth of 1 inch. Bake in a 325o oven about 20 minutes or till eggs are firm.

 

If desired, after 15 minutes of baking, top each egg with 1 tablespoon of the shredded American cheese. Continue baking for 5 to 10 minutes more till eggs are cooked and cheese is melted. Makes 3 servings.
