Ajowan seeds are also known as omam.  They are small, light brown , tear-shaped seeds from a shrub of the cumin family. They have a strong flavor which is similar to that of thyme. Ajowan Seeds are used in Indian cuisine to flavor curries, chutneys and breads.

Hawker food in New World Park

Cooking idea No Comments »

Hawker food in New World Park has just recently turn into a place when “we dont know where to go for eat.”

Why? Simply due to the ease of finding car parks, and save the trouble of thinking  on what to eat.

Basically you can have all in one roof.

From Char Koay Teow, Jawa Mee, Fried Rice, Fried Noodle, Noodle Soup….to the most famous Ais Kacang (Peanut Ice) which is blended ice with different types of concoction. Taste them, and you will definitely going for more.

You can never go wrong with getting the Ais KAcang first then only start to think what to order.

Preparing breakfast for a trip with kids onboard

Cooking idea No Comments »

We are going to take off to the capital tomorrow. Got to get ourselves prepared with some sandwiches since the coach doesnt provide food…or should i say they dont provide food suitable to kids taste. Spicy stuff aint for the girls.

I bought some button mushrooms and fried them with garlic and butter.

Wait till it cool down and store in the fridge.

If you still remember how i cooked during my Perth trip, here i do it again. LOL.

But the kids love it, and i love it too.

So fragrance even while frying it.

Then i sliced some tomatoes and japanese cucumber plus some lettuce.

Havent been using the sandwich maker for sometime and i thought this will make a good storage. Coz once the bread are sandwiched with mushroom, tomato, lettuce, cucumber and garlic butter, it will be good to make the size look “smaller” and the skin crispier. That way, it will save some storage space while i am backpacking.

I have 1 large haversack with me, and the kids are each carrying one, with one of them to be the food carrier.

Try this ham sandwich too.
